Non-Markovian behavior in photon echoes of iron-free myoglobin

Abstract

As shown in Fig. 1 (A), we recently found that the echo decay curves of iron-free myoglobin (H2-Mb) change significantly below 10 K.1 Above 10 K the echo signal decays exponentially. On the other hand, below 10 K the transition away from the exponential decay is dearly observed. To my knowledge, such a behavior has never been reported in cast samples of dye-doped polymers. Therefore there is much interest in the origin of this behavior.
