Abstract
We have developed an innovative method for measuring ion oscillation frequencies that is based on analyzing photon-photon correlations present in the ions’ fluorescence.1 Briefly, the ion’s motion can take it physically in and out of the laser beam waist. Furthermore, the ion can move in and out of resonance with the laser frequency as a consequence of the Doppler effect.
