Abstract

Progress in nonlinear and integrated optics and in semiconductor-laser and fiber technology in recent years has raised the practical possibilities of new principles of communications and signal processing based on all-optical methods. For this reason much attention has been focused on the light-control-by-light problem and the study of optically bistable systems by using new nonlinear dynamical effects.
