Abstract

Ultrashort laser pulses with large pulse energies have been used to study high-intensity multiphoton ionization of atoms with unfocused laser beams. Intensity-dependent coherence effects, which were masked in previous experiments by spatial-intensity variations at the laser focus, are observed.
