Abstract

In this presentation I discuss the implications of the recent experiment by Ou et al.1 This experiment is the first realization of the gedanken experiment considered by Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen2 (EPR) in 1935 as an argument for the incompleteness of quantum mechanics. I conclude that the Ou et al. realization of the EPR experiment suggests that there exists an even stronger paradox than that of EPR. Either: 1. We reject macroscopic local realism, where macroscopic local realism will be defined in this paper; or; 2. Accepting macroscopic local realism, we must accept as a consequence that quantum mechanics is incomplete.
