Abstract

Long-lived spatially indirect excitons have been observed in asymmetric coupled GaAs/AlGaAs double quantum wells by- others (see, for example Refs. 1 and 2). We are investigating asymmetric triple-quantum-well (TQW) systems; these systems permit greater flexibility in that electron and hole tunneling take place across different barriers and consequently can be independently controlled.
