Abstract

We report here the results of computer simulations of coherent pulse amplification in a two-component medium. The two-component medium consists of two species of resonant atoms with the same frequency of the resonant transition and different values of the dipole matrix elements of transition da < db. It is well known that the Rabi frequency is proportional to the dipole matrix element of transition (Ω ~ d). Here Ωa < Ωb for da < db, and we shall call the a atoms slow atoms and the b atoms fast atoms. Initially the slow atoms are in the excited state and the fast atoms are in the ground state.
