Abstract
Among conjugated polymers, the family of the polyphenylene vinylenes (PPV) has recently attracted much attention because of its high fluorescence quantum yield1 4 and nonlinear optical response.5 The first excited state is an excitonic 1B„ level,6 classifying the transition from the ground state (1g) as dipole allowed and giving rise to a high luminescence quantum yield.4
