Cavity QED for quantum logic, wave-function synthesis, and atomic localization

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The strong coupling of an atom to the field of a high-finesse optical cavity can be exploited to achieve conditional dynamics at the single photon level, synthesize arbitrary quantum states of the intracavity field, and trap and localize atoms via continuous quantum measurement.
