Magnetic atom mirrors from surfaces

Abstract

A suitably magnetized surface, such as an ordinary floppy disk, can be used to reflect spin-polarized atoms with a variety of applications in atom optics including flat and curved mirrors, Fresnel lenses and diffraction gratings.
