Abstract

Polydiacetylene chains exhibit large third-order optical nonlinearities and are interesting one-dimensional systems. However, optical spectra of solid-state polymer systems always present broad bands and interpretation of experimental data must take into account the importance of disorder and/or interchain interactions.
