Quantum Interference and non-reciprocity in lifetime-broadened quantum well states

Abstract

By inserting a tunnel barrier on either side of a coupled well structure, we force two lifetime-broadened states to interfere constructively or destructively. As the first step towards a inversionless laser, we observed non-reciprocity between emission and absorption.
