Non-Sequential Double Ionization of Molecules

Abstract

We present new measurements on the non-sequential double ionization (NSDI) of molecules. We find that while NSDI occurs in N2, the N22+ ion is always left in the metastable ground state. NSDI does not occur In H2 with an upper bound of 10−5.
