Abstract

Optical properties of magnetic low-dimensional structures such as magnetic nanocrystals, magnetic superlattices, thin films, etc., are a subject of high interest. Giant magnetoresistance, quantum confinement effects have been studied for these structures. Nonlinear optical properties of these magnetic structures are also intensively studied at the moment. Conveniently the method of optical second harmonic generation (SHG) is used for these experiments, because the SHG is known to be a sensitive probe of surfaces, interfaces, thin films, etc.
