Abstract

Planar resonators filled with nonlinear media are basic configurations in nonlinear optics exhibiting fundamental effects such as bistability, self-oscillations, or pattern formation. In particular resonant structures with quadratically nonlinear materials attracted a lot of attention.1 In the past the interest was focused on an effective second harmonic generation. Today most investigations are concentrated on basic nonlinear effects of the coupled system of the fundamental and second harmonics.
