Abstract
After initially obtaining qualitative evidence for Bose-Einstein condensation (BBC) in magnetically trappet] 7Li,1 we have now made quantitative measurements of condensate number.2 Unlike 87Rb and 23Na, the other species in which BEC has been observed, 7Li has a negative scattering length, indicating that the interatomic interactions are effectively attractive.
