Abstract
Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) arc of great interest for their practical applications and for providing an excellent system to study the physics of a semiconductor gain medium strongly coupled to an optical cavity. The coupling between the cavity and gain medium alters the carrier relaxation processes from those observed in the absence of a cavity.
