Dispersion-induced bifurcations of spatial soliton parameters in nonlinear planar waveguides

Abstract

Recent experimental studies1 have shown that normal group velocity dispersion (NGVD) deteriorates seriously the performance of nonlinear directional couplers in the high-intensity propagation regime. In this contribution we numerically demonstrate that for similar intensities and propagation distances NGVD may lead to bifurcations involving Y junctions and breather solitons.
