Trapping and cooling of atoms in blue-detuned doughnut-mode lightfields

Abstract

There has been a continuing effort in creating brilliant atomic beams as well as a search for new traps of dense atomic samples. Pardetuned dipole potentials with reduced spontaneous processes are promising candidates for achieving strong trapping and small trap losses simultaneously.
