Abstract

Recently unbalanced optical homodyning has been proposed for realizing a local reconstruction of phase-space distributions.1 It is based on coherent displacements of the signal field by use of a beam splitter and a local-oscillator field and on measurements of the photon statistics of the displaced field. The s-parameterized quasiprobability W(α; s) at the phase-space point α is given in terms of the photon statistics Pn(α, η) measured with overall detection efficiency η as.
