Abstract

In recent years several experiments have been performed on the generation and detection of Bloch oscillations in GaAs/AlGaAs superlattices grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).1 This material system offers high optical and electrical quality while the optical wavelengths for the generation of Bloch oscillations are located around 800 nm. Here we present investigations on Bloch oscillations in strain-balanced InGaAs(P)/InGaAs(P) superlattices grown by metal-organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD). The optical wavelengths of the excitonic transitions can be tuned to wavelengths around 1.55 μm in InGaAs(P) based superlattices, thus enabling—in principle—the excitation with femtosecond fibre lasers.
