Abstract

The excitonic optical response of single quantum dots (QD) has recently been isolated by using high spatial resolution techniques. Photoluminescence (PL) magneto-optical studies of these confined systems have shown interesting physical phenomena such as Zeeman splittings, diamagnetic shifts and the Overhauser effect.1 Coherent nonlinear optical spectroscopy provides a powerful additional tool for the study of the interaction between magnetic substrates, as has been demonstrated for a single quantum dot.2
