Abstract
Samples of cold atoms have been proposed to be ideal for high-resolution optical spectroscopy. Conventional Doppler-free techniques using thermal atoms are limited by transit time, second-order Doppler shift and collisional shifts. With the advent of Vapor Cell MOT, cold atoms became as simple to produce as atomic beams and a few groups performed recently excited states spectroscopy of alkalis.1,2
