Abstract

Many physical and chemical properties of water/ solid oxide interfaces are linked to the isoelectric point of solid surfaces (IEPS).1 When the pH of an aqueous solution crosses the isoelectric point of an oxide surface, the interfacial charge changes sign. This results from the following chemical reaction at the interface2.
