Abstract

Epitaxial overgrowth coating of semiconductor nanocrystallites (NC’s) is the most effective method of surface state passivation, yielding the greatest fluorescence quantum yield [1-3]. We use this method to passivate 2-3 nm PbS NC’s prepared in a colloidal solution, choosing cadmium sulfide (CdS) for the epitaxial layer, as its zinc-blende form present’s less than a 2% lattice mismatch with PbS.
