Superluminal Reflection from Photonic Bandgap Quarter Wave Dielectric Mirror

Abstract

A recently derived analytic equation for the reflection phase from a quarter wave dielectric stack demonstrates a regime of negative mirror penetration depth. Practical geometries are predicted with reasonable reflectivities and measurable superluminal photonic bandgap performance.
