Motional Quantum State Reconstruction in an Optical Lattice

Abstract

We demonstrate reconstruction of the quantum center-of-mass motion of laser-cooled atoms confined in an optical lattice. We examine time-evolution of the density matrix to study decoherence effects in the lattice.
