Localization of Light in Optically-Induced Gratings

Abstract

We study experimentally nonlinear localization of light in refractive index gratings optically induced in a photorefractive crystal. We demonstrate generation of spatial solitons and their bound states, similar to those observed in optical waveguide arrays.
