Nonlinear optical properties of noble metals at the interband transition threshold

Abstract

We report measurements of the cubic optical susceptibility of copper at the interband transition threshold. Both real and imaginary parts of the susceptibility are determined from nonlinear transmission and reflection experiments with a copper/silica composite sample irradiated by picosecond laser pulses.
