Abstract
Higher order waveguide modes of hollow-core photonic-crystal fibers are studied experimentally and theoretically. Cladding aperiodicity is shown to modify the spectrum of modes guided in the hollow core of such fibers, with regions of low-loss guiding still observed as isolated peaks in transmission spectra.
