Four-wave-mixing suppression in Er3+-fiber amplifiers by backward pumping

Abstract

By backward pumping of an erbium doped fiber amplifier additional spectral components resulting of four wave mixing outside the original pulse chirp were suppressed leading to a substantially improved recompression of the amplified signal.
