Increased polarization-entangled photon flux via thinner crystals

Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally that the production of polarization-entangled photons via type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion is higher for thin nonlinear crystals than for thicker ones, basically because thinner crystals generate a broader spectrum.
