Generation of THz Surface Plasmon-Polaritons by a Superluminous Optical Spot

Abstract

We propose to use an optical beam scanning a semiconductor surface and creating a spot of nonlinear polarization to launch terahertz surface waves. This offers new ways to build THz sources and perform surface spectroscopy.
