Photonic Crystal Device Sensitivity Analysis and Optimization with Wannier Basis Gradients

Abstract

We present a powerful photonic crystal device sensitivity analysis and optimization method utilizing efficient matrix techniques. We optimize the performance of a compact (8.2×13.3µm) waveguide mode demux with the method. FDTD simulations validated the design.
