Optical Shockley-like Surface States in Light-induced Superlattices

Abstract

We provide the first demonstration of linear Shockley-like surface states in optically-induced semi-infinite photonic lattices with alternating strong/weak couplings. Such surface states appear in superlattices only when the surface termination is specially designed.
