Abstract

We have observed two-photon interference behind Young’s double slit with unprecedented signal/noise ratio’s. We demonstrate the complementarity between quantum entanglement in the two-photon field and optical coherence in the projected one-photon field for three different types of illumination: far-field, near-field, and intermediate illumination.
