Strong Enhancement of Local Fields and Second-Harmonic Generation in a Resonant Waveguide Grating

Abstract

We observe over 5000-fold enhancement of second-harmonic generation from an all-dielectric resonant waveguide grating. The enhancement is due to interaction of strong local fields with the inherent surface nonlinearity of the structure.
