"Nearly Zero" modal volume cavities using localized plasmons with some retardation effects

Abstract

The Q-factor of a localized plasmon cavity is enhanced significantly when allowing the plasmon to very slightly propagate as an SPP. The resulting mixed plasmon – plasmon polariton resonators retain sub-100nm volume with enhanced Q-factors.
