Optical Confinement by Filamentation-induced Molecular Alignment

Abstract

An experimental analysis on the spatio-temporal effects generated in the wake of a filament propagating in Nitrogen is presented. At suitable time-delays, a weak probe light pulse experiences a strong spatial confinement and a noticeable spectral broadening at the same time.
