Abstract

Highly efficient two-photon-absorption induced defect-level-emission-free UV luminescence of ZnO nanorods grown by vapor phase transport was demonstrated with sub-20 fs, few-nJ pulses extracted from a Ti:sapphire laser oscillator. Potential applications in phototherapy are discussed.
