Abstract

We directly observe the formation of coherent longitudinal optical phonon and plasmon coupling modes in GaAs (100) with time-resolved second-harmonic generation. Quantum interference between coherent LO phonon and photoexcited plasma continuum can be identified near zero delay time. The asymmetric spectral line shape resolved in time-frequency domain is ascribed to the effect of Fano resonance.
