The Evanescent Interaction of an Ultrafast Laser Inscribed Optical Waveguide

Abstract

Ultrafast laser inscription has been used to produce an optical waveguide evanescent field sensor. Fabricated in a single step and exhibiting an insertion loss of 2.6 dB, the device had a visibility of 3.7 dB.
