Abstract
We combine split ring resonators and high mobility two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) into a THz metamaterial where we observe strong light-matter coupling between the cyclotron transition of the 2DEG and the split ring resonances. A strong change of the metamaterial transmission spectrum is observed as a function of the applied magnetic field, and a clear anticrossing behaviour is displayed by the absorption features. A ratio of Ωres/ωc=0.3 is observed between the vacuum Rabi frequency Ωres and the cyclotron frequency ωc.
