Microfabricated Surface Trap for Scalable Ion-Photon Interfaces

Abstract

We demonstrate a surface electrode ion trap microfabricated on top of a dielectric mirror, with the ion 169 µm above the trap surface. This represents a scalable approach to trapped ion quantum computing with photonic interconnects.
