Light-matter strong coupling in the mid-infrared region with metallic microcavities

Abstract

We demonstrate a very strong coupling between a mid-infrared intersubband excitation of a two-dimensional electron gas and a microcavity mode, obtained thanks to a sub-wavelength confinement of the light between two metal layers.
