Light shifts of ground-state quantum beats: A monitor of quantum jumps

Abstract

Two-mode cavity QED allows the observation of ground-state quantum Zeeman beats with the conditional measurement of the intensity. Continuous π excitation produces quantum jumps that cause light shifts and induce decoherence.
