Optical breakdown triggered by ultraviolet plasma grating in air

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrated the generation of a plasma grating induced by interaction of two ultraviolet filaments. The optical breakdown of air is observed when intense infrared pulses were tightly focused onto the plasma grating.
