Optical Trapping of Magnesium Ions in Two-Dimension Arrays and Spectroscopy on Magnesium Rydberg Atom

Abstract

We propose trapping two-dimensional Coulomb crystals of ions in the strong light field of an optical resonator without radio-frequency fields, with an aim to perform quantum simulation of two-dimensional many-body Hamiltonians.
