Free-Space Coupled Low False Count Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detector

Abstract

A free-space coupled superconducting nanowire single photon detector with high efficiency and sub-hertz false count rate is demonstrated using stacked short pass filters, a bandpass filter, and optimized cryostat design to block thermal photons.
