Investigation of Forward and Backward Light Propagation in Silicon Waveguide Junctions (as Photon Valves)

Abstract

Non-reciprocal devices are long sought after in photonics. We investigated possibility of controlling forward and backward flow of light in inverse designed silicon junction and in effect showed about 14db transmission contrast in two directions.
